Labour Councillors Abandon Residents

I understand there was a site meeting today in Pennypiece Lane including the members of RMBC Planning Committee, four Anston Parish councillors and approximately twelve local residents who met to discuss the proposals to build 28 new 4 & 5 bedroomed detached houses and 2 bedroomed affordable bungalows new homes on land next to Pennypiece Place.

Independent councillor Clive Jepson was there to give his support to all those who have objected to the proposed plans.  Labour Borough councillors Jonathan Ireland and Katherine Wilson did not attend the site meeting.

Duchy Homes proposal and plans are here: http://www.pennypiecelane.co.uk/  and the RMBC webcast is here: https://rotherham.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/366714

From the comments I’ve heard and the perception from the webcast is that this is a ‘Done Deal’. The discussions at the site meeting were a sham. Every objection raised was glossed over and the Chairman of the Planning Committee seemed to be unduly hasty in making sure the plans were approved. Was there, like the previous Labour administration used to do in Anston secret  confidential meetings beforehand by committee members to make sure everyone was ‘onboard’ with the proposals?

It is strange that the two Labour councillors did not support the residents nor did they attend the site meeting-if they say they were working why didn’t they object in writing? They claim to be serving the best interests of all Anston residents.

The question for Cllr.Ireland, Cllr. Wilson and the Labour controlled Planning Board is: does your party loyalty take precedence over legitimate and valid concerns voiced by residents who will be affected by this proposed development? The answer seems to be in the affirmative.

95% of people that live in Anston support building on open spaces, by the fact they have bought and live in houses built on farming land.

One thing to remember is that A.P.C. and the residents of Anston will benefit from approximately 3000 per year in extra income from the precept. Over the next 25 years £75000. Also extra income for the local shops and more money for the schools, police and fire services

  3. Mr Pearson making false/unfounded statements again. I did propose that the discussion should be held in confidential session, and at the Meeting I gave my reasons. My reason was that I wished to discuss contractual agreements with both past and present users of the field. It is normal practice not to discuss legal contracts in public, we could be liable in some circumstances to legal action.
However, any decision that is made in a confidential session, MUST be published in the next minutes. Its no coincidence that Mr Pearson, along with Mr Kavanah, and Councillor Jonathon Ireland were staging a protest (based on false information) at Rackford Meadow, Mr Pearson had called an Election ( two in fact, which has cost us the Taxpayer around £12,000, he came last in both) Mr Pearson is trying to deflect from the topic yet again.
    Back to the subject
. Cllr Ireland was on the Planning Board last year, and out of all the meetings, that he should have attended, he only turned up at about 3 or 4.
One he did turn up for was the “Brethren Church” on Common Road . The Parish Council objected to the application, but he turned up and fully supported the plan to build on Green Belt. What he forgot to do, was declare an interest in the application ( because its in his ward, you can watch the film) as required by the Code of Conduct. Which is very odd, because at the time he was also a member of the Standards Committee, that sits in the judgement of others who “break” the Code.
As well as not turning up for the Pennypeice housing plan, he also failed to turn up for the major planning application at Harry Croft Quarry. He also failed to turn up at the Planning Inspectors hearings into the proposed Caravan Park at the bottom of Dog kennel lane at South Anston.
I suppose 1 out of 4 is not that bad, ( One could ask the question, did he have any contact with the Brethren/ Church Members prior to speaking up for the application ?).
But when you compare it with the track record of our other Labour Councillor, Cllr Wilson.it just gets worse.. Her attendance at Meetings at RMBC have been called into question, she is reported to have one of the worst attendance records in the Chamber. I do not recall seeing her comments at all for any planning application in Anston, and she has never attended a planning meeting to speak on behalf of the people of Anston.
We are paying both these Councillors approx £12,000 a year each, for no representation, Typical Labour Councillors, take the money and run.

I understand you were at that meeting and the minutes of the meeting show no change of use was agreed.
You are making this up by pretending the opposite happened.
Why didn’t you say anything when the Labour group held a secret meeting before forcing Anston residents to take on a debt of £276,000?
      Your selective memory is astounding.
Unless you-or any other poster-comments on the subject matter your posts will be trashed.

By the amount of local people that use Rackford Meadows, it is quite obvious to a person of sound mind that the field is very popular, without any complaints of paying 21 pence per month per resident of Anston. Good value really. In 2003 the parish council held a poll of the residents of Anston. 1100 people replied with 87 percent in favour of purchasing land to prevent development. See minutes 142/03 Even though Rackford Meadows is greenbelt, if owned by another party, applications could be made to remove it from greenbelt for development. As A.P.C. are custodians of this land for the people of Anston, it will never be sold while in their care.
While I realise this site is anti Labour, surely it should promote fair and unbiased reporting. This is a small local blog site with a small readership. 100 hits per month. Your figures. Unless you have an updated report.

If this site was anti Lib Dem or anti Tory would you still complain?
Perhaps you’d care to itemise all the wonderful benefits Labour controlled RMBC has brought to Anston?

I don’t care how many hits this site has, I’m not in a competition.

There is no such thing as ‘fair and unbiased reporting’ (Your words) in any published newspaper or blog, if you think otherwise you are living in fantasy land.

Oh come on RACKFORD meadow is paid for from the precept of every household in Anston why has the council never explained the change of use does that require planning permission look at it logically all your homes are built on greenbelt or what was the Only Good Thing about Anston Parish Council is that this Council hasn’t got that long left to run you will be lucky if half of Anston Parish counsellors keep their seats in the next election as their seems to be plenty of candidates waiting two step forward and you can understand why

Let’s wait and see if the two Labour bourough councillors fight on behalf on Anston residents to secure our fair share of the CIL payment.
Judging by their non intervention to oppose building on greenbelt I won’t hold my breath.

Independent Clive Jepson is the only RMBC councillor who has the courage of his convictions to speak publicly against the rapacious cabal who control RMBC.

Why have a secret meeting about Rackford Meadow? Apparently it can’t be sold so the only thing to discuss would be how to raise money from hiring the field out to help pay the mortgage for decades to come. Is it true that during the previous Labour Councils term they did actually decide at a secret meeting held immediately before a Council meeting, with only Labour Councillors invited, that this plain, bog standard, nothing going for it field would would be bought “For the benefit of Anston residents”. If so then the people present at that secret meeting should be prosecuted for fraud as it was not a true, legal, democratic decision by the Council and has placed a millstone around the necks of Anston Council tax payers for the next three generations as we struggle to pay the crippling mortgage. No wonder all of those Labour Councillors fled from office like rats up a drainpipe leaving the current Council to try and sort the mess out that they left behind. That daisy is the real truth, straight from my orifice.
