Parish Election Results.

Results for the vacant seat-North Anston ward-on Anston  Parish Council.

Bev Thornley.             Lib-Dem   327  (34.713%)

Marie Wilkinson. Independent  319  (33.864%)

Kevin Pearson.     Independent  296  (31.422%)

Total votes  942.  Spoiled ballots  3.

Marie Wilkinson did extremely well to lose by 8 votes only.

It remains to be seen if Dinnington resident Bev Thornley will make any worthwhile contributions to the parish council especially since recently elected Lib-Dem councillor Stephen Smith has stayed almost silent since taking his seat.

NB:The spending limit for individual candidates is £740, plus 6p per local government elector in the parish, community or town council area which they are standing for.

Comment:  Well election’s all over we can breath freely now.
As a consolation prize to soften the blow of us Cllrs. having to put up with another LD, maybe the three of them will get together and finish the job taken on by the Chair to APC of applying for grants, after all it is at least 18 months since he started, another 18 months might see a result. I only say might, don’t get your hopes up. The Chair might be too busy attempting to fixing cameras but that leaves 2 so you never know.
Hope the little gang had a celebration at such a massive majority and hoping also their attendance rate at meetings will continue on the same lines, which is NOT VERY OFTEN. That is the bonus.
Sorry Marie you missed out love and hope you will still get to meetings. Had it been a co-option you would have walked it. A classic case of keep politics out of local councils, some of the existing Cllrs being of the closet variety.

Chris Sadler.

Why on Earth would I go to the expense in elections hi e the cost of leaflets and time delivering said leaflets if as you say I didn’t believe I could win you obviously believe I am posting as James that is wrong as I will prove the South Yorkshire police if asked to do so I also have a letter from Anston Parish Council clerk stating as far as they are aware there is no police investigation into myself which now conflicts with a letter sent to an MP stating their maybe one South Yorkshire police clearly stated to me there was no evidence to proceed with a case of harassment I suggest you get your facts right before trying to threaten me with a public apology 21 days or else if you wish to carry on please do so regards Kev Pearson

  2. There is a solid difference between exercising your democratic right, and financial abuse of Anston Taxpayers hard earned money. Calling Elections, and knowingly bragging and laughing, that you have no chance of winning shows your true intent. The people have spoken twice, and twice you came in last place.
    Public apology still waiting!!

  3. First of all, I have never made any statement about co-option and Mrs Wilkinson. Mr Pearson clearly lives in his own fantasy world. Mr Pearson has 21 days in which to provide evidence of his statement, on this site, or offer a public apology, otherwise I will be reporting his continued harassment to the police. Mr Pearson has already been the subject of an investigation by the police over the harassment of myself.
Mr Pearson is now complaining about how he is being treated on this site. I can assure readers that not only has Mr Pearson been posting on this site under numerous false names, but has also had numerous postings deleted because of the offensive nature of those posts. I believe that several of those posts have been directly aimed at myself. Watch out, Police about.
As for IP addresses, I too have done an IP address check, on a post by Mr Pearson, under a false name. That address came from a location in Sheffield, near a school. So this site may well be onto something.
I also have reason to believe that Cllr J Ireland Jr is also now starting to attack me on a local facebook site. if they end up in the same cell, would one of them have their own set of keys? . Some people need to think before making statements.

No point arguing with you I think this one needs to be sorted out by police and your website provider

The Council could ask the Police to investigate this the next time they are called in to control your disgraceful and illegal disruptions to Council meetings. Sort of kill two birds with one stone.

In that case why were some of your comments last year from an IP address provided by BT and your current IP address is provided by EE Mobile?

I am sick of this site saying I am posting under false names if this carries on I will have no option to report this site and its uses for cyberbullying it is quite easy to check the IP address of any computer iPhone I suggest you do so before you make statements that you cannot 100% guarantee councillor Thornton Christine Sadler stated quite clearly if Marie Wilkinson had stood for co-option she would have walked it I will make no public apology for exercising my democratic right

Why have you changed your IP address if it is ‘easy to check’?

This is an internet forum, its is all about people giving their opinions. 100% guarantees are not required for personal opinions on an internet discussion forum. You are exercising your democratic right by posting your opinions on here using your real name. If a group of other contributors using nom de plumes make the same spelling and grammatical mistakes as you then it is not illegal to point this out. After all it could be the nom de plumes not you that people are having a go at. If Councillors Thornton and Sadler thought that Ms Wilkinson would be co-opted then that’s is just their opinion. If you decided to spend £13000 of Anston residents money because you knew you wouldn’t be co-opted then I think that is a disgrace and that is just my opinion.

  7. Mr Pearson called for an election in South Anston, and stood on the Parish Hall steps laughing that he had no chance of winning, but called it any way. He came in last place. That election cost YOU the Taxpayer around about £6,000.
Mr Pearson called ANOTHER election in North Anston, saying again ( and laughing) he knew he would not win. He came in last place again. That election again costs around £6,000/7,000 .
On a rough tally Mr Pearson has cost you the taxpayers of Anston around £12,000,13,000. Thats approx £13,000 we cannot now spend on facilities or play areas.
Mr Pearson should make a public apology for all the money he has wasted.
He is even bragging that he is going to call an election on any other vacancy that arises, is he trying to bankrupt the council (of which you pay for)

    Public apology required

Stuart you know as well as everybody else Kevin Pearson was never going to be co-opted the only action I could take was to call an election if no one Put up against him there would’ve been no election and no cost but independence decided they wanted to put another runner and the chairman of Anston Parish Council DrewTommy decided to put a Liberal Democrat in if that Had not been done in both cases north and south there would’ve been no election and no cost to anyone so I think that some of the blame should be excepted by yourselves

So who exactly called the election then? Because according to James he did. Also how can Independence decide to put another runner in? An Independent is an Independent. Not a member of the Independence party. Just saying like.

  8. “Independents lost again”, well if there was a level playing field, then maybe there would be more independent people standing. When an independent stands for election, that person has to pay for all their own election leaflets. This is a cost of around £300/400. ( depending on how many leaflets you put out) Those standing on behalf of the parties pay nothing, all their leaflets are paid for by the Party. Independents also normally have to deliver all the leaflets on their own. The question needs to be asked, would the two latest winners ever have stood for election if they had to dig into their own pockets, and deliver all their own leaflets. ?. Whilst I am not aware of the funding system for the LibDems, You the taxpayer pay for the Labour Party leaflets. When a Labour Party member is elected to RMBC ( for our Ward read Cllr Ireland and Wilson) They have to agree to pay 7% of their allowance to the Labour Party. Of that 7%, 3% goes to Central Party HQ, and 4% goes to the local Labour Party, who in turn use that money to pay for leaflets. YOU the Taxpayer, pay for all Labour leaflets you get.
I am quite sure that if all candidates were made to pay their own expenses, the Political Parties would struggle to get candidates.

‘Independents’ lost again, twice this year now. Get over it. Anston doesn’t want independents any more, as the whole of the parish has now clearly voted for a political party, after having no contested elections in years. These two elections have proven that, no matter what you think of the political parties standing.

A lot of taxpayers’ money has been spent on election ‘administration’, what a shame that couldn’t have been spent on improvements to the local area.

If Anston parish councillors were more truthful about their political beliefs and groups then perhaps an election wouldn’t have to be called but it seems That will never happen and so I would imagine there will be no more co-opting for Anston Parish Council at this moment in time
