Why Vote Labour?

  1. In last year’s EU referendum 66% of people in Rother Valley ward voted to leave the EU. Local Labour MP Sir Kevin Barron voted Remain.

The Rother Valley Ward is; Anston & Woodsetts. Dinnington.Hellaby.Holderness.Maltby.Rother Vale. Sitwell and Wales.

18046 people voted to Remain and 36182 voted to Leave. 54228 votes in total which means an overwhelming 66.72% in Rother Valley voted to Leave the EU.

The Parliamentary Labour party has said that it will do its utmost to thwart Theresa May’s efforts to get the best deal possible in negotiations with EU leaders. With this in mind can anyone explain exactly why people in Rother Valley should vote for the Labour candidate Barron?

His record in Anston is abysmal. Our roads are crumbling, he has not spoken out against fracking in Anston nor building on greenbelt. What new businesses has he attracted to Anston? What has he actually done for this part of the Borough?

Shouldn’t people vote for the party most likely to grant their wishes to leave the EU.? Do they vote for the Labour party because their Fathers, Grandfathers and Great Grandfathers voted Labour?

Do they honestly believe voting for the Labour party is the patriotic thing to do and in our Country’s best interests?

Just in case anyone doesn’t understand the gist of this blog please let me put it simply. If you live in the Rother Valley constituency and voted to leave the EU in last years referendum then please back your convictions and vote anything other than Labour in the forthcoming general election. This will ensure that Theresa May will have one less MP trying to scupper her efforts in getting the best deal for all of us when once again we become a self governing country, free from the clutches of Brussels, France & (Heaven forbid) Germany. ( Who won the b***dy war anyway)? Your Fathers, Grandfathers and Great grandfathers, that’s who, and it’s my bet that they would not vote Labour in the present political climate. Or did they all die just for you to give the victory away? You can return to your Labour traditional vote in five years time if you wish. By then we will once again be proud to say we are citizens of GREAT BRITAIN.

The question is why vote Labour ? And the answer for most labour voters is simple because their parents and grandparents did. Who are we to question this rationale ? If they choose to vote locally for the party that turns a blind eye to child molestation and nationally for a party who’s leader is a terrorist sympathiser who are we to question this ? Let’s all vote Labour and have sharia law within a fortnight of Corbyn coming to power.

harry, you are wrong. The article was not about Anston. The title was. Why vote Labour? and the main point was the fact that 66% of the Rother Valley electorate voted to leave the EU in the referendum while their Labour MP voted remain and his party are plotting to stop Theresa May from trying to get the best brexit deal possible for our country. Therefore, as the article also asks is for people to come on here and say why should the Rother Valley people including the 66% should vote Labour when they surely vote for the most likely party to grant their wish that they expressed last year. Neither you or anyone else has answered the question. you correctly stated the general election election is a two horse race. I agree, vote leave the EU with the best deal for your country or vote labour. Your choice.

I think ‘Harry’ has let his emotions run away.
He wrote “There is not any plan to build on greenbelt in Anston”.
Not now there isn’t but RMBC proposed to take a large swathe of greenbelt land next to the A57 to build industrial units and it was Anston Parish Council, Dinnington Town Council and Save Our Geenbelt and numerous private individuals who formally objected to the plan. The Planning Inspectorate agreed with them and refused permission. At no stage did Kevin Barron appear in person, write or telephone his support for the objectors.
An MP can bring pressure and influence on the Roads Minister to help with improving roads in his/her constituency. ‘Harry’ also mentions the £5 Million allocated to RMBC for roads repairs.
The government has given this money to RMBC, it hasn’t been found by RMBC and before ‘Harry’ blows another valve he needs to remember the roads were in a poor state prior to 2010.
Time to take off your rose tinted specs squire.

The roads are not the responsibility of an M.P. They are the responsibility of the local Borough Council. The budget for the roads has an extra £5,000,000 on top of the budget. In recent years we have seen the following roads resurfaced – Lakeland Drive, Woodsetts Road, West Street, Crowgate, Worksop Road(A57), Lockwood Avenue, Dog Kennel Lane and Nursery Road. Numerous other side roads have also been completed. From next weekend Sheffield Road and High Street are next. There are not any current plans with the borough regarding building on greenbelt and there are not any plans for fracking in Anston, only exploration. How can an M.P. speak out about non existent issues. It is very narrow minded of the author to think that people will vote for patriotism and what is best for the country. They vote for what a party can do for them. Welfare state. N.H.S.Pensions. Workers rights. The list is endless regarding the benefits of Labour. Tories selfish capitalism centred around the privileged few. Failing public services. Huge budget cuts. 7000 job losses in front line prison officers. Massive cuts to local council budgets. This effects everyone in Rotherham. Austerity is survival. Spend a little and let us start living again. Let us face reality it is a two horse race ukip are dead.

By your logic our MP cannot bring any pressure to bear on RMBC concerning the poor state of our roads?
‘There are not any current plans with the borough regarding building on greenbelt’
Work could start on the 2,400 proposed houses on former greenbelt land known as Bassingthorpe Farm in Rotherham as early as 2016, planning reports show. As part of the Local Plan core strategy that was recently adopted by the council, the 215 hectare area close to Rotherham town centre has been removed from the greenbelt and designated as a Strategic Allocation and the main location for new housing, employment and retail growth. 2,400 dwellings could be joined by 11 hectares for employment use.

I don’t mind Labour trolls commenting but try and get your facts right.

Obviously you misunderstand the author. The subject was Anston. There is not any plan to build on greenbelt in Anston. Remember the article was regarding what our M.P. has done for Anston. Keep to the thead. Don’t mislead.
